It’s a story close to the experience of queer people. ![]() His confrontation with us has lasted throughout the train rude under the Hudson River into Jersey. My gaze is steely, fixed on the red-faced, blustering man who is pounding on the closed PATH train car doors. This notion is only intensified, as Feinberg paints a scene for us: So let me just say this on behalf of all cis people: we suck. It’s still obvious to me that trans people do not deserve such invasive questions about their genitals. ![]() I’m not trans, but I am trying my best to be an ally. “Who cares what anybody’s got between their legs?” Feinberg’s first line is preaching to the choir, as Max herself puts it. I had first attempted to read this in the airport, but a seat change interrupted my plans, so I am starting it a little late (three days late), but I’m excited to start this live-blogging journey nevertheless. And I can’t even describe how happy finding a queer book from a queer author made me. I first picked up Drag King Dreams at my university textbook store, who were giving away unneeded books for free. As a butch lesbian and transgender activist, she is empowering solely in her identity, let alone considering what her books do for the queer movement. Drag King Dreams is the second work of Leslie Feinberg, author of Stone Butch Blues. ![]()

Armentrout comes book four in her Blood and Ash series.Ĭasteel Da’Neer knows all too well that very few are as cunning or vicious as the Blood Queen, but no one, not even him, could’ve prepared for the staggering revelations. Its the first time I ever give a Blood and Ash book a rating under 4-stars. ![]() So youd probably be surprised by my rating, and I am too. From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. The War of Two Queens is one of my anticipated books of the year and the fourth installment in one of my favorite series of all time. ![]() ![]() ![]() He made some mistakes along the way, but none more serious than anything that Ash ever did, in my opinion. Meanwhile, this book proved to be emotionally engaging and, at times, heartbreaking. She is only beginning to learn about the power within her and I cannot wait to see what she will be able to do once she is able to access it fully. While she still has a plethora of male protectors to do her bidding, Meghan also rises as a leader in and of her own right. In earlier books, Meghan was always cast as the damsel in distress, waiting for Ash or Puck to come to her rescue. To say the least, I felt that this book had a strong "girl power" vibe going on. She is faced with many painful truths and twists along the way, but she rises to the challenge. She grows stronger, both physically and spiritually. 'The Iron Queen' really is Meghan's "coming of age" book. ![]() Not only does the relationship between Meghan and Ash grow, but Meghan undergoes a great deal of self-discovery and growth as an individual. Not only is this book filled with action and adventure, but I finally got to see the romance between Meghan and Ash evolve. This book is pivotal and takes the story in an entirely new direction. Of all the books in 'The Iron Fey' series, 'The Iron Queen' is my favorite. ![]() ![]() "A lot of times it's really visual for me as I'm writing it," she says.
